Machine Chest Press vs Free-Weight Bench
A seated chest press machine guides the weight along a fixed path and braces your torso, removing much of the stabilising demand of a free barbell. As a result you can usually move more on the machine. A common rule of thumb is that your barbell bench is roughly 80–90% of your machine chest press.
